ABSTRACT
This study aims to reveal the perceptions of fatherless children living in orphanages towards the father figure in the family. The loss of a father figure for children causes many problems and negative impacts on the child's growth and development. Orphanages actually provide a place as a new family and caregiver to replace the role of parents who are lost in the child's life. However, the design of a child care system must be in line with the child's needs, namely through the expression of their perceptions of their father figure. The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach, through the child's communication process in the form of pictures with the theme of "father". The participants were teenagers aged 13-15 years, with an orphan background who lived in an orphanage. The results of this study found that children still consider the father figure to be out there, and not the caregiver in the orphanage. The father is considered as someone in the family who is quite far away from the children, the father is a parent who is not dominant in his family.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap persepsi anak fatherless yang tinggal di panti asuhan terhadap sosok ayah dalam keluarga. Hilangnya sosok ayah bagi anak, menyebabkan banyak permasalahan dan dampak buruk terhadap tumbuh kembang anak. Panti asuhan sejatinya memberikan wadah sebagai keluarga baru dan pengasuh sebagai ganti peran orang tua yang hilang dalam hidup anak. Namun, perancangan sistem pola asuh anak harus sejalan dengan kebutuhan anak, yaitu melalui ungkapan persepsi mereka terhadap sosok ayahnya. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi, melalui proses komunikasi anak berupa gambar bertema "ayah". Pesertanya adalah remaja berumur 13-15 tahun, latar belakang yatim yang tinggal di suatu panti asuhan. Hasil dari penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa anak masih menganggap sosok ayah ada di luar sana, dan bukan pengasuh di panti asuhan. Ayah dianggap sebagai seseorang di dalam anggota keluarga yang cukup jauh jaraknya dengan anak-anak, ayah merupakan orang tua yang tidak dominan dalam keluarganya.
